Saraki Mourns Pa Olaniwun Ajayi

Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has described the demise of a chieftain of the pan-Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, Sir Olaniwun Ajayi, at the age of 91 as a sad  loss of one of the surviving nationalists whose counsel is needed at this point to solidify the nation’s democracy.

Saraki in a condolence message signed by his Special Adviser (Media and Publicity), Yusuph Olaniyonu, lauded the late Ajayi for his immense contributions to the stability and social-political development of the country.

Saraki said: “Nigeria is blessed to have had the likes of the late elder statesman and passionate Awoist, as one of its leading political elite. It is really sad that we have again lost a progressive  and a leader of repute who spent the most productive part of his earthly life working for the common good.

“His sterling qualities and selfless service to humanity is worthy of emulation. His footprints on the sands of time will remain indelible. He shall be sorely missed,” Saraki said.

He commiserated with the immediate family of the deceased, the pan-Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, the Government and people of Ogun State, the entire Yoruba race and the country in general over the death of Pa Ajayi while praying God to grant the soul of the departed eternal rest.
