Motion To Investigate Management And Operations Of BASA Stalled During Senate Session Of Wednesday, 20th Of February 2013

The Senate began Consideration of the motion on ‘Urgent Need to Investigate the Management and Operations of the Bilateral Air Service Agreement (BASA) Account and Other Internally Generated Revenue of the Aviation Parastatals’. This motion however was stepped down due to technical irregularities and also because the 54 Co-sponsors of the motion were not included on the order paper.

The Report of the Conference Committee on Terrorism Act 2011 (Amendment) Bill 2012 was considered by the Senate sitting in the Committee of the whole and unanimously passed. The Bill was thus read for the 3rd time and passed by the Senate.

The following bills were debated and passed its 2nd reading in the chambers:

• The Bill for an Act to Alter the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to Place the Office of the Auditor General for the Federation on the First Line Charge of the consolidated Revenue Fund and to Empower the Auditor-General for the Federation and the Auditor-General of state Governments to Audit the Accounts of Statutory Corporations, Commissions, Authorities Agencies in Nigeria and for related Matters 2013 (SB.226)

• The Bill for an Act to Repeal the Recovery of Premises Cap  553 LFN, 1990 Act and to Re – enact the Recovery of Premises Act (Abuja) 2011 to Regulate the Relationship Between Landlords and Tenants, Rent Control, the Procedure  for the Recovery of Premises and for other Matters Connected There with 2013 (SB.125)

The Senate adjourned to Tuesday 26th of February 2013 ; as Senators are expected to attend the Senate Leader’s Father’s burial tomorrow.
